Ca-li-for-nia, here I come!

I'd love to post photos, but I don't have any and can't find one that will download to here. You'll just have to picture it in your head!

We have been planning to have a get-away from the 17-26th of April for awhile. Den needs to take some vacation time, and one of our cars needs to get some body work done for a couple of weeks. We did think about Florida, but lately Will has been talking a lot about getting a job in California. We've been looking at maps of the state and different cities. It gave us the California bug. That and meeting up with various and sundry cousins on Facebook that I haven't seen for decades and never met they're families.

We found AMAZING ticket prices flying in to San Diego and flying out of San Francisco. And we can drop the car off in San Francisco. Of course, that makes it about the same price as the airline tickets, but it's still good.

I've never been west. I've been as far as York, Nebraska and Rapid City, South Dakota. I think that's it. Of course, we've been all over east and to Europe, but we've never done the great West. So this will be a start. I'm really hoping that we can meet up with family and friends as well as enjoy the countryside. Beaches. San Francisco. It's going to take some planning...

Now let's see if I can get my aunt and uncle on the phone....!

Rate My Space

HGTV has a program where people can send in photos and others give ideas on what to do with that room. Well, here's a good one for ya! This is MOST of the stuff acquired by my sons in the past couple of years. That far couch we bought in Scotland when Will was born. Time to get rid of it!

I'm getting rid of the bed, the futon (in front of the upright foosball table), the couch, a chair that goes with the couch, the foosball table and a coffee table not in the photo. THEN maybe I can figure out what to do with the space.

In the meantime, I have to look at this mess. Believe me, it's pretty well organized compared to a week or so ago!

Springtime and Resurrection

This week resurrection is on the mind. Ah, except for THE Resurrection we'd be most miserable of people. But God in His great creation design also gives us a picture of resurrection every year. It's wonderful that He timed it with this week.

We've had temperatures in the 70's and 80's all week this week and the plants are bursting with new life!

Yeah, I'm a big Getty fan. When my friend blogged the Psalm, "My heart is steadfast..." I could hear this song. YouTube was given permission to post this as a preview for the Getty's album. I bought it and it comes with this extra DVD of this interview. Enjoy!

What a wife!

It's not me, really. But it's what I aspire to.

So what was my inspiration to write? A couple of things. First off, Dennis always kisses me goodbye in the morning when he leaves for work. Sweet. This morning I thought how blessed I am to have husband who, after 30 years, STILL loves me. I am so amazed! Knowing me.


The second inspiration was a quote I saw on FB this week. It was just something silly, but is still an underlying belief among some people. (I was going to say non-Christians, but I think some Christians believe this.) that "Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams---If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore."


I thought about that. Careers can be pretty insidious. They demand everything, and what does one get in return?
I went to Proverbs 31. That woman isn't the 50's woman who was bored playing cards, sitting around and home watching soaps and ONLY cleaning house and making meals and taking care of children. This woman is a business woman! And she's not lazy. Nor does she misuse her time. She's dealing with men in the marketplace, buying, selling. She's looking for deals. I don't think our girls need to think the Christan wife cannot be a business woman, but I think that she can be an "excellent wife" by following her husband's godly lead.


I love these verses: "An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life."


I've got a ways to go. But I pray that always I will do him good all my days.

No Title

I think half my problem about blogging is trying to come up with a title. And a picture. Just words on the page are not very interesting. My life is full of titles and pictures, but just the one I want or need is hard!
I have to say, every time I come to my blog page I sigh. I just LOVE this photo! This is a marvelous place!
Maybe I'll think of a title and write something today....
